THAT 1240 Series
Balanced Line Receiver

New York, October 8, 2003 - THAT Corporation announces availability from stock of the 1240 series of balanced line receiver ICs. These are precision differential amplifiers intended primarily for use as audio balanced line receivers. The family features versions that are pin-compatible with Analog Devices' SSM2140 and SSM2143, and Burr-Brown's INA137.

Gary Hebert, THAT’s chief technology officer noted, "the 1240-family uses integrated, laser-trimmed thin-film resistors to provide very precise balance; typical common-mode rejection is 90 dB. Audio performance is uniformly high, with 12 V/µs slew rate, 20MHz gain-bandwidth product, and 0.0006% audio-band THD. The devices are protected from EOS/ESD by diode clamps on critical pins making them reliable alternatives for real-world products."

Les Tyler, THAT's president, added, "the 1240-family is available in three different gains -- 0, -3, and -6dB -- to suit various application requirements. While similar parts at 0 and -6dB gain have been available before now, the -3dB version is unique. We believe it represents the optimum tradeoff between noise and headroom for real-world applications."

The 1240s are made using THAT’s proprietary dielectric isolation (DI) process in THAT’s Milpitas, CA. semiconductor fabrication facility. Mr. Tyler said that, due to the DI process's ability to deliver discrete device performance, "these parts sound like discrete designs, with the size, reliability, and convenience of ICs."

Priced at $1.52 in 1k quantities and available in popular industry packages, the THAT 1240-series offers a superior substitute to other line receivers.
