RoHS-Compliant IC Marking & Packaging

THAT Corporation RoHS-compliant integrated circuits, assemblies, and packaging materials are marked in accordance with the standards outlined in JEDEC document JESD97, "Marking, Symbols, and Labels for Identification of Lead (Pb) Free Assemblies, Components and Devices". A copy of this document can be obtained from the
JEDEC website.

IC Marking
THAT currently uses three different RoHS compliant plating finishes on the pins of our ICs and hence three separate marking schemes to differentiate them from one another. Note that the part number suffix used to order lead-free parts will not be printed on actual integrated circuits.

100% Tin (Sn) plated parts
These parts will be marked with a white box around the pin-one indicator dimple. Only the 2181S-T is currently supplied in this finish. Note, the 2181S is also available with a nickel- palladium- gold finish.

Tin-Bismuth (Sn-Bi) plated parts

These Parts will display a horizontal white line below the part number but above the date and lot codes. Parts with this finish: the 4301-series and the 4311.
THAT 4301-I RoHS compliant marking

Nickel-Palladium-Gold (Ni-Pd-Au) plated parts

Parts with the Ni-Pd-Au finish make up the majority of our product line. This is our default plating and thus there is no special marking on the parts to indicated they are Ni-Pd-Au plated. The model number is marked to one side with the date and lot codes below  as shown in the image at right.

Packaging

Pb-free marking
Packaging for THAT Corporation's RoHS compliant parts will be marked in accordance with the IPC guidelines. Each level of packaging (e.g. bag or box) above the tube quantity will be labeled with the Pb-free symbol as shown at right.

Pin finish marking
The type of plating on the IC legs will be identified on the packaging. Following the IPC symbology, the plating material will be indicated by the letter 'e' followed by a number, both then circumscribed by an ellipse as shown below.

100% Tin (Sn)
Packaging for these parts will be marked with the symbol shown to the right. Only the 2181S-T is supplied in this finish.

Nickel-Palladium-Gold (Ni-Pd-Au)
Packaging for parts with the Ni-Pd-Au finish will be marked with the symbol shown to the right. Parts with this finish include: 1200-series, 1240-series, 1250-series, 1280-series, 1500-series, 1600-series, 4305, 4315, 4320, 2162, 2180-series, and 2181-series.

Tin-Bismuth (Sn-Bi)
The packaging for these parts will be labeled with the symbol at right.  Parts with this finish include: the 4301-series and the 4311.
