Audio Preamplifier ICs

1570/5171 Digital Microphone Preamplifier ChipsetTHAT Corporation offers a family of self-contained low noise amplifiers intended primarily for use in professional audio applications. These parts offer great performance at a price that makes them an attractive, space-saving alternative to conventional op-amps. These ICs live up to THAT's usual high performance standards with very low noise, very wide bandwidth and low current requirements.

1570/5171 Digital Microphone Preamplifier Chipset
The THAT1570 and THAT5171 ICs enable digitally controlled microphone preamplifier applications with unprecedented performance. Operating on maximum ±17V supplies, the chipset accepts pro audio input levels (+22dBu max) without an input pad. Gain is adjustable to 5.6dB, and from 13.6dB to 68.6dB in 1dB increments. The 5171’s built-in zero-crossing detector and other patent-pending techniques for reducing zipper noise enable very smooth and silent gain changes. A differential servo reduces output offsets to less than 1.5 mV.

5171 Digital Preamplifier Controller IC
The THAT5171 is a digital gain controller for low-noise, analog, differential, current-feedback audio preamplifiers such as the THAT1570. When used in conjunction with an appropriate analog gain block, the 5171 can set gain to 5.6dB, or any gain from 13.6dB to 68.6dB in 1dB steps, while preserving low noise and distortion. It operates from ±5V to ±17V supplies, supporting input signal levels as high as +22 dBu (at 5.6dB gain, and ±17V supplies) in combination with the 1570 (without an external input pad). The 5171 includes a differential servo and zero-crossing detector to minimize dc offsets and glitches (zipper noise) during gain adjustments.

1570 Low-Noise Differential Audio Preamplifier
The THAT1570 is a versatile, high performance current-feedback amplifier suitable for differential microphone preamp and bus summing applications. The IC comes in a small QFN package, which saves PCB space over discrete and other integrated solutions.

1510/1512 High Performance Audio Preamplifier
The THAT 1510 and 1512 are high performance current-feedback instrumentation amplifiers designed for low source-impedance preamp and bus summing applications. The ICs are available in a variety of packages and pin configurations, making them pin compatible with the Analog Devices SSM2019 and SSM2017 (discontinued), and the Texas Instruments INA217 and INA163.
